Leading smartphone maker Oppo has introduced the 125W flash charge technology. The 4,000 mAh battery can charge up to 41 percent in just five minutes and fully charge in 20 minutes. The new technology is compatible with the company’s existing SuperWook and WooCommerce fast charging protocols. It also supports 65W PD and 125W pps standards. In addition, Oppo introduced the 65W AirWook fast wireless charging technology, the successor to the 40W AirWook. The company has launched the 50W Mini Superwook and 110W Mini Flash Chargers to provide better service to smartphone users.
Oppo’s 125W flash charge technology is an evolution of existing Superwook and Wooke architectures. Oppo has developed special chips to enable faster charging. These chips include a VCU intelligent control chip, AC / DC control chip, MCU charge management, chipset, BMS battery management chip, and a custom protocol chipset. All of these are required to offer fast charging on a smartphone.
Additionally, the charger supports 20V / 6.25A on the USB Type-C interface, enabling a faster charging experience. It measures 64×61.5×30 mm and weighs 153.8 grams, which is claimed to be larger than the current 65W Superwook 2.0 charger. In particular, the new charger’s USB Type-C interface is compatible with both PD and PPS protocols. In the future, the 125W flash charge can be used not only on a handset that supports it, but also on any other supported smartphones and laptops.
Oppo claims that the new technology will not affect the battery as it retains 80 percent of its new life after the 800 charging-discharging cycle. The company has also designed a customized intelligent chip, 10 new temperature sensors and a 128-bit encryption algorithm to provide faster and safer charging. There are also new systems to maintain the body temperature of devices below 40 degrees Celsius during the charging process.
Along with the 125W flash charge technology, Oppo also introduced the 65W AirWook wireless fast charging technology. It is the successor to the 40W AirWook introduced in April. The new wireless charging technology claims to fully charge a 4,000 mAh battery in 30 minutes. It is based on a parallel dual-coil design.
Details about the availability of Oppo’s new charging technologies are yet to be revealed. However, considering the available reports, the latest devices are expected to hit the market by the end of this year.
