About OnePlus 5T Design:
OnePlus 5T’s body is made of aluminium and is available only in one colour option – Midnight Black. We can’t deny if one said that this latest outing from OnePlus does bear striking similarities with that of Oppo R11. Interesting enough the model isn’t boasting to be waterproof either.
One thing which the new model changes from the previous outing is in terms of shifting the fingerprint sensor to the rear side. It has to be said that this one offers a more durable finishing as compared to OnePlus 5. Also the company has gone onto placing the 3.5mm audio socket, USB Type – C port and the speaker grille all on the bottom side, and left the top untouched.
On the left side, you will see the Alert Slider, wherein you have three positions, Silent, DND, and Ring. Along with it comes the volume buttons, while the power button goes to the other side. The SIMs can be inserted through the tray placed above the power button.
Weighing for 163g, OnePlus 5T appears a bit heavier than that of OnePlus 5. Along with the box, comes a red USB Type C cable, charger, while they haven’t provided a headset this time.

OnePlus 5T Performance:
It can be noted that nothing much has changed if you compare both OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T. It has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, using its integrated Adreno 540 GPU. There are two variants available with 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB options.
While the company provides both VoLTE and 4G on both the SIMs, you however can have only one at a time. There is a dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Coupled with it comes, NFC, GPS and GLONASS; don’t skip those sensors including electronic compass and gyroscope. The battery has a capacity of 3300mAh and OnePlus brings you a Dash Charge standard for quick charging.
It was surprising to see OnePlus 5T shipping with the Android 7.1.1 out in the box, though the company assures of bringing Android 8.0 as soon as possible. What appears to be different from OnePlus 5, is the presence of more UI customization options and that of the apps.
Remarkably, OnePlus 5T has brought the facial recognition technology and evidently works quick on conditions, other than low light. However, with the company itself stating that this technology isn’t secure enough, you can’t go with it for banking apps.
The battery of OnePlus 5T is able to withstand a full day’s performance, while we can’t deny the fact that it still needs some more efficiency to catch up with that of the performance of OnePlus 5.
Camera:
Into the camera, we have a dual camera set up on the rear side, with the combination of 16MP, 20MP sensors – both having an aperture value of f/1.7. Compared to OnePlus 5, what appears absent in OnePlus 5T is that of the telephoto lens in the secondary camera. This time, the company has gone with a sensor, aimed at aiding low light photography. In a major letting down decision, the company has taken away the optical zoom in functionality.
Unless there is a presence of good light, don’t expect the phone to capture super delightful pictures. In favourable conditions, the camera clicked great pictures with depth. While this is the case with primary camera, the secondary fitting is ought to aid you in low light conditions; and it does the same.
The front camera too performed decently. As far as video capturing is concerned, it records 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps.
OnePlus 5T Verdict:
As far as the performance of the phone is concerned with, you are not expected to come across any hiccups, even if you were using high end applications or HD videos. That said about the sound quality and loudness, we must say that the device is capable of giving you pretty much higher output, but may not claim super rich experience. But, the real question is that, do you really need OnePlus 5T, when you already have OnePlus 5.
