Tightening the security measurements, the Transport Ministry officials commented that non ISI helmets would soon be banned in India. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has already informed the Supreme Court panel about the same. The move is aimed at ensuring road safety and the presence of non ISI helmets would be completely banned in a matter of six months.
The ISIHMA (ISI Helmet Association) has welcomed the move, stating that the decision would help reducing the instances of accidents resulting in death. Commenting that the presence of cheap and spurious products hinders the aim of helmets, the association appreciated the stance of govt.
