Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has commented that the Department of Telecom (DoT) might award the 4G Spectrum to MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited). MTNL, which is run by the state, is reportedly going to invest INR 190 Cr towards upgrading its services in the country. Going in line with the reports, the company would soon come up with better services in New Delhi and Mumbai circles. The rollout is expected to happen in batches within this year itself.
Since MTNL is already under huge debt, the figure of which stands at INR 16,870 Cr as of December 2017, it has to be seen how the investment plans of the state owned firm is going to be materialized.
