Malaysian regulators have informed that they would be leading a probe against Twitter. According to the reports, they would be checking the activities of bots in Twitter. It was after which they had received several complaints regarding Twitter bots, which they decided undertaking an investigation. With the general election in Malaysia is on the anvil (May 9), Twitter was abuzz with a number of pro – government tweets. While reacting to the news reports, the information technology bureau of the ruling party, said that they had no roles behind these bots.
Earlier, it was Reuters, which reported the massive presence of automated Twitter accounts, playing their part in the Malaysian elections. Though bots are allowed in Twitter, the micro blogging platform however decided installing a restriction on suspicious activities on the platform.
