Kerala registered a total of 1078 new Covid positive cases. This is the second consecutive time that the state has registered a daily figure of more than 1,000. On the other hand, the number of samples that turned negative stands at 432. With this, the total number of covid cases in Kerala has reached 16,110, while the state’s total active cases have reached 9,458. A total of 6,596 people have recovered from the disease. Amongst those who have turned positive today, 104 are from overseas, while 115 came from other states.
The state has registered 798 cases through transmission in the past 24 hours – the highest figure till date. Out of those who caught the disease through transmission, the sources of 65 are yet to be traced down. Incidentally, the state has also recorded 5 more Covid death case, taking the tally to 53. Koyutty, from Kallayi, Kozhikode, Lakshmi Kunjanpillai from Muvattupuzha, Raveendran from Parassala Nanjankuzhi, Rahiyanath from KS Puram, Kollam, and Sadanandan from Vilakkottur, Kannur, have all succumbed to death, and have all found infected with the disease.

Right now, 1,58,117 people are under observation, with the number of institutional quarantine standing at 9,354. During the last 24 hours, Kerala has tested a total of 22,433 samples. The total number of routine samples tested by the state, stands at 3,28,940. Out from the routine samples, the results of 9,159 test results are yet to come. Today, a total of 1070 people have been admitted to hospitals. The state has a total of 428 hotspots right now.
