The Congress leaders have now come to the scene with strong criticism against the government for the arrest of Rahul Mangkoot. Leaders like AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan, Kodikunnil Suresh MP and Shafi Parambil MLA have come forward to protest against Rahul’s arrest. Rahul has been arrested in a case related to the conflict. Thiruvananthapuram cantonment police arrived at Rahul’s house in Atur early in the morning and arrested the Youth Congress state president. The opposition leader opined that Rahul is not a traitor or a terrorist to arrest him early in the morning.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal responded that it would not be fair to describe the police action that took place this morning with a word less than ‘fascism’. What crime did Rahul commit to arrest the terrorist and take him away? The policemen who go out to implement such orders of the Chief Minister should not forget that the Congress is a movement that has seen a lot of police brutality. He also says that it is a fascist act to use the police to confront the public workers participating in the popular protests. It would be better if the CPM assesses whether the Chief Minister’s action, which violates all its boundaries, is in line with a communist leader. It is a natural action of the police to file a case in the name of protest marches. But such a practice of arresting a public servant in the early hours of the morning is unheard of in Kerala. In this case, where there is nothing beyond the usual provisions of getting bail if you go to court, on what basis did the police barge into Rahul Mangkoothil’s house in the morning and arrest him?

If you think that because of the arrest of the Youth Congress president, the Congress and the Youth Congress can be pushed into a crisis, it is just a misunderstanding. Congress will rally strongly in front of Rahul politically and legally. KC Venugopal also says that if you can prevent it, try it.
