CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has rejected the invitation of the temple committee to the inauguration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Temple built on the site of the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Chairman of Ram Temple Construction Committee Nripendra Mishra invited Sitaram Yechury to the consecration day ceremony on January 22. CPM also informed that Sitaram Yechury refused this invitation.
At the same time, last day, Sonia Gandhi also sent invitation letters to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha party leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary.
Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that Sonia Gandhi or his representative will participate in the ceremony. Digvijay Singh said that the Ram temple is public property and the consecration ceremony should not be seen as a party event.
The dedication ceremony is on January 22. Invitation letters have also been sent to former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, former President Ram Nath Kovind, former President Pratibha Patil and others. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has informed that he will not participate in the function due to health reasons.
