Yet another chapter has begun in the Indian film history, as the first patriotic film festival kicked off today. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation, the festival is being conducted online. A total of 43 films are featured in the festival, including the classic Gandhi. From Malayalam, there are three films from that will be screened. Major Ravi’s 1971: Beyond Border starring Mohanlal, T Aravind directed Vande Mataram starring Mammootty-Arjun duo, late. G Aravindan’s Uttarayanam are the three films selected from Malayalam. While both 1971 and Vande Mataram are relatively recent films, G Aravindan’s Uttarayanam happened to be one of the oldest movies in the film festival. Released in the year 1975, the film’s story was co-written by the late director and late. Thikkodiyan.
The images of those films selected for screening can be seen on the website www.cinemasofindia.com. The screening of the film, which starts today, will end on the 21st of this month. Being the first of its kind in Indian film history, the initiative has gained widespread attention from film lovers as well as the circles outside the film fraternity.
