“If you dig up churches, you will find temples; if you dig up temples, you will find Buddhist monasteries”: Prakash Raj

Actor Prakash Raj said how it is possible to forget even the position of the Prime Minister and remain silent in the country where the priest is. The actor said that the only way to survive is through art.

He was speaking at a debate organized on the theme ‘Art and Democracy’ on the second day of the International Literature Festival at Thrissur Sahitya Academy.

We are now living in a country where even the Parliament House is worshiped like a temple. Narendra Modi is the best actor in India.

He said that it is not wrong for actors to enter politics and it is important to have the ability to read between the lines.

The actor also says that he cannot freely protest for Manipur or support Palestine.

Prakash Raj also spoke about the Ram Temple Prana Pratishtha ceremony.

Prakash Raj said, “If you dig up churches, you will find temples, if you dig up temples, you will find Buddhist monasteries.”

Prakash Raj reminded that there is no history of right-wing standing forever and our fear is the strength of right-wing fascists.

He reminded us that they are not strong by themselves and we should keep questioning that such right-wing communalism will perish.

Even if you are ready to lose, you have to keep fighting. There is no other option but to continue the fight.

Art is the only way to survive. He said that even Ramayana is an art and why we don’t talk about Sita, Kashmir Files getting national award and Jai Bheem not getting national award is propaganda.
