In 2021, the country honored him with the Padma Shri. He also received the Arjuna Award in 2015. Meanwhile, Sakshi Malik announced his retirement from wrestling last day and left his boots. Sakshi’s announcement came after Sanjay Singh was elected as the president.
Another wrestler, Bajrang Punia, had returned the Padma Shri in solidarity with this. Many people are coming to support them. Meanwhile, Goonga Fileman came in support.
At the same time, the players protested against Brij Bhushan Singh for sexually exploiting minor female wrestlers. Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia were in the forefront of the strike.
Then Brij Bhushan had to resign. Sanjay Singh, a longtime supporter of Brij Bhushan, won the post of president of the Wrestlers Federation of India in the elections that followed.
