Indian mobile phone industry is already under the control of Chinese brands, while Xiaomi recently went onto claim the top spot – surpassing all the traditional powerhouses. Now, the available reports suggest that, Oppo might have grabbed the top spot from Xiaomi. Oppo, which had a revenue of INR 933.74 Cr during the last fiscal, went onto grew by a whopping 754% in this fiscal – with the revenue touching all time high figures of INR 7,974.29Cr. That said, Oppo along with its sister brand Vivo are really making their way in India. However, Xiaomi, which had made a fantastic business of INR 7,000 Cr in last financial year, is yet to publicize its reports from FY17. While industry insiders claim that Xiaomi, which continued performing fantastically during this financial year as well, might be posing an even bigger figure than that of Oppo’s.
The story, on the other hand turns out to be quite a grim one for leading international as well as Indian brands. The figures of Sony India reportedly fell down by 11% and stands at INR 7,184.84 Cr. Micromax, however experienced a steep decline as it managed to amass a revenue of INR 5,613.97 Cr – experiencing a 42% fall from the previous year figures.
