Kerala’s political capital – Thiruvananthapuram and the economic capital – Kochi, reportedly are facing a serious situation, as authorities continue demanding for more strict actions to be taken in both the places. Though both the cities are enlisted in the high priority list of the Health department, the recent developments have gravened the situation in both the places.
According to the reports, Thiruvananthapuram might go for facing a shut down, as the number of Covid patients, whose sources can’t be traced, is witnessing a massive spike. Last day, creating quite a lot of frenzy, an online food delivery boy has been tested positive for the pandemic. His source, as well as his contact list, is yet to be developed by the authorities. While speaking about Thiruvananthapuram’s condition, Minister Kadakampally Surendran has opined that the state capital is on top of a volcano, which can explode at any time. He also reported that all the delivery boys in the town would be subjected to antigen test. He also informed that the ‘Cash on Delivery’ system has completely banned in the city. Reports suggest that the state capital has registered 4 positive cases, through transmission.
Similarly, Kochi is said to be going to face quite a lot of restrictions in the coming days. More containment zones are being announced by the authorities, with the Police already sealing several places in the early hours of this morning – Panampilly Nagar, Girinagar, Palarivattom North, Karanakodam and Chakkaraparambu. As was suggested by the district collector, Kochi might get into triple lockdown. While the authorities have sealed ‘Chambakkara Market’ due to the public not following physical distancing norms, Police has also closed the Aluva market today morning. The decision was taken, as an auto rickshaw driver near the market has turned positive. Giving another alarming signal to the city, a lady worker at the Nedumbasseri Pre paid Taxi counter has turned positive for the disease, and has been admitted to the Kalamassery Medical Hospital. Her contact list is under preparation, while her family members have all gone quarantine.
