As the samples of some traders turned positive, Ernakulam market has been closed down. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the district collector S Suhas. The parts of the Ernakulam market from St. Francis Cathedral to the Press Club Road will be closed. According to the reports, the workers of an electrical firm in the market caught the disease. They are the coworkers of a man, who had already turned positive.
The health department has already put people in the primary contact list of those diagnosed with the disease. The shops in which they worked were closed following the direction of the Health Department. The Collector directed Health Department officials to collect samples of everyone with Covid symptoms in the market and to conduct random checks on employees of trade organizations.
Minister VS Sunil Kumar convened a video conference and asked to take necessary measures before the situation gets worsened. Strict measures will be taken such as closing the shops, if they didn’t ensure proper physical distancing, even if they are outside the containment zone.
