Thiruvananthapuram: Covid 19 has been confirmed for nine persons in the state. The total number of patients treated was 112. Of these, six were found to be negative on examination. A total of 12 have been discharged. The Chief Minister said this in a press conference.
Of the confirmed cases, two are in Palakkad, three in Ernakulam, two in Pathanamthitta and one in Kozhikode. Four came from Dubai, one from the UK and one from France. Three were obtained through engagement.
The patients were treated at Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur. There are 76542 people in the state. There are 76010 households and 532 hospitals. The Chief Minister said that 122 new patients were admitted to the hospital today.
One of the confirmed cases of the virus in Ernakulam today is a taxi driver who traveled with a coroner from France. This shows that we need to be more careful.
The Chief Minister said that the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020 has been approved by the Cabinet. It is an ordinance to make stringent and effective measures to prevent epidemics. He said the decision to recommend the governor was to bring down the ordinance.
The law empowers the government to regulate public and private programs. State boundaries may be closed accordingly. Public and private transport can be regulated and standards for social control can be introduced. He said the crowd could be banned or restricted in public places and religious institutions.
The central government has implemented lock down in the country since yesterday. Even before that, lock down was announced in Kerala. It is clear that the situation is getting worse. The state needs to go further. The Chief Minister said the government would make the lives of the people better.
Those on the priority list will be given rice and food items as announced earlier. Earlier it was said that 10 kg of rice will be given to those who are not on the priority list. The cabinet has decided to increase it to 15 kg. And a kit of groceries will be provided to each. No family should starve. The chief minister said the community should be vigilant in this regard.
At a meeting with the heads of the press yesterday, they were advised not to hold a press conference. The Chief Minister said that there is an alternative way to hold a press conference from tomorrow.
