THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rapid tests will be launched in Kerala to identify the virus victims in the wake of coronavirus spread. The first test will be held at IMG, which is being monitored by about 100 people, and Pothencode in Trivandrum.
A man from Pothencode died yesterday while undergoing treatment for coronavirus. It is not yet clear where he got the virus from. He also attended several public ceremonies. It is in this context that the Pothencode test takes place.
The inspection team will travel to Pothencode today. The health department is trying to track down the deceased and find those in the Pothencode Juma Masjid. Those who are related to the deceased will also undergo a Rapid Test.
Kadakampally Surendran, Minister of State for Human Resources Development, said that the results of the Rapid Test will be examined at the Public Lab and at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
