Tightening the clutches on the Chinese companies, Minister Nitin Gadkari said no Chinese companies would be allowed to take part in the road construction projects in India. The decision came on the wake of the Indian – China conflict at Ladakh. The ban on Chinese companies would continue on the construction of high profile Highway projects as well.
Similarly Chinese investors will not be encouraged to take part in the businesses of small and medium enterprises. Even if the projects are of ‘Joint ventures’ in nature, Chinese companies would not be allowed to take part. Informing the same, a new government policy of banning Chinese companies in the construction of projects and easing the eligibility criteria for Indian companies will soon be released. The new decision will be applicable to the upcoming as well as existing projects.
The latest decision of the government is especially meant to include Indian companies in the construction of high profile projects. It is expected that by easing out the eligibility criteria for Indian companies, more and more homegrown companies would come forward to participate in large scale construction projects.
