Ministry of Defense approves purchase of 120 Pralay missiles for Army These are being procured with the aim of deploying them along the borders of China and Pakistan. Pralaya missile has a range of 150 to 500 km.
The decision to purchase Praalaya missiles was taken at a high-level meeting of the Ministry of Defence. Both China and Pakistan currently have ballistic missiles in strategic areas. Pralaya missile is very challenging for enemies to intercept with missile defense systems.
The missile was developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The missile project was launched in 2015 at the behest of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.
Praalaya is a surface-to-surface semi-ballistic missile.
