Non-resident Indian businessman and filmmaker Atlas Ramachandran passed away on Sunday at the age of 80 in Dubai.
According to media reports, he died in the late hours of Sunday at Dubai’s Aster Hospital due to a heart attack after battling age-related illnesses. Ramachandran was admitted to the hospital in Mankhool on Saturday after complaining of chest pain.
Atlas Ramachandran was the chairman of Atlas Jewellery and became a household name for delivering the tagline of his jewellery, “Janakodikalude Vishwastha Sthapanam.”
He had produced and distributed films under the banner “Chandrakanth Films”.Vaisali (1988) and Sukrutham (1994) are the major films that he has produced. He has also acted in few movies notabily in Subhadram (2007) in a lead role.
He is survived by wife Indira Ramachandran and daughter Dr Manju Ramachandran.
