Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in the fifth and final announcement of coronavirus package has announced that Rs 40,000 crore has been allocated. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment (MGNRGA) ensures that migrants do not face unemployment while the country is locked in addition to the budget estimate.
MNRGA’s budget estimate is Rs 61,000 crore and now an additional Rs 40,000 crore has been allotted for workers to return to their villages, said Nirmala Sitharaman.
She said the government’s move would help the workers in the rainy season and boost the rural economy through higher production.
Nirmala Sitharaman said that “many people have returned to their villages” and they will lose their jobs, so they can get jobs by enrolling.
Moss Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur added that this would help create 300 more individual days.
The move by the Center is expected to create a number of durable and livelihood assets, including water conservation assets.
