Badminton legend China’s Lin Dan has retired. The 36-year-old is leaving the court after a career spanning nearly two decades. He has won two gold medals at the Olympics and is a five-time world champion. He won all the major crowns in badminton during his career. He won gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. He announced his retirement after the Tokyo Olympics became uncertain due to the coronovirus outbreak.
“My family, coaches, teammates and fans have been with me in the ups and downs of life. I have dedicated everything to this game that I love so much. I am 37 years old now. My physical fitness and pain do not allow me to fight with teammates, ” Lynn Dan said.
Lynn’s left the court soon after his biggest rival in the badminton courts and close friend outside, Dan Chong Wei’s retirement. The face-to-face fight between the two was described as the classic match of badminton.He has also won six gold medals at the All England Championships and has also won Super major Grand Slam at the age of 28, winning nine major tournaments in the world. With this came the nickname of ‘Super Dan’. Dan is also the first male to hold Olympic gold. He has won 66 titles in his career.
