According to The Meteorological Department the cyclonic storm named Amphan could turn into an intense hurricane within the next 48 hours. It is expected that the cyclone will reach the Indian coast by Tuesday night. High alert was issued in Andhra, Odisha and West Bengal. Kerala is not in the cyclone path, but heavy rainfall is possible in the state.
The wind is currently 800 km off the coast of Paradweep in Odisha. Amphan, the first hurricane of the year 2020, was formed at 5.30 pm on Saturday. The storm is expected to turn into a hurricane on the 18th.
The hurricane that is moving north west now will change its direction to north-north-east. It is likely to travel to the Bengal coast between 18th and 20th of this month. The name of the cyclone Amphan was suggested by Taiwan.
