The Indian head of Amazon, Amit Agarwal, has hinted that Amazon Fresh would start its operations in India within 5 years. However, the company hasn’t commented on the launch of Amazon Fresh in India. Adding that the company would start supplying all household items, the top officials even shared their dream of groceries and household products accounting for half of the company’s business in India.
Lunched in the US more than a decade ago, Amazon Fresh is expecting to capitalize on the vast potential of the Indian customer base. All expected to be valued at $200 Billion in a decade’s time, the Indian e commerce market, opens up a plethora of opportunities for potential businesses. Right now, Amazon has got over 100 Million registered users in the country. Though on a limited base, Amazon has already started supplying fresh groceries in India. Under the service name of Pantry, the company offers the supply of grocery, by means of tie up with local vendors.
