The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India after a passenger urinated on a woman’s body on an Air India flight. Air India was fined for delay in taking action on the passenger’s complaint. Director of Air Services Vasudha Chandra was also fined Rs 3 lakh. Also, the license of the pilot who was controlling the plane has been canceled for three months.
On November 26, a drunken passenger named Shankar Mishra urinated on a 72-year-old woman on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. According to the complaint given by the passenger, the clothes, bag and shoes were soaked in urine.
Despite complaining to the flight attendants, no action was taken. The passenger also said that when the flight reached Delhi, he got off without permission. Following this, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran filed a complaint.
Mishra, who went on the run after the complaint became controversial, was arrested from Bengaluru. Following the incident, Shankar Mishra was fired from the company he was working for the other day.
