Kolkata: The man who climbed on top of the bridge to take his own life was offered biryani and a job by the Kolkata Police.
A 40-year-old man who climbed atop a bridge in Kolkata and threatened to commit suicide was brought down by the police.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon. He was going to Science City with his elder daughter on a two-wheeler when he suddenly stopped the vehicle on top of the bridge.
He told his daughter that the mobile phone had fallen somewhere and let him search for it. Then he stopped his daughter on the road and climbed up the bridge.

According to the people who noticed this and informed the police, the disaster management team of the Kolkata Police and the police officers immediately reached the spot.
Then asked the daughter what her father’s problems were. Later, the police officers spoke to him.
But at first he refused to come down. Finally, he agreed to come down after being offered biryani and a job.
According to the police, he was in severe mental distress due to the separation of his marriage and the financial loss in his business.
If he had jumped from the bridge as there was a railway track below, it would have caused a big accident. Due to the threat of the young man and the persuasive efforts of the police, traffic was blocked at the place for half an hour.
